Office Snapshots: GLY Offices – Bellevue
Weaver Architects designed GLY’s new office in Bellevue, Washington with an emphasis on natural light, collaboration spaces, and showcasing the construction company’s expertise through exposed aesthetics and warm materials.
GLY, a major regional general contractor with a 50 year history in the Pacific Northwest, moved to a new 18,750 square-foot office in Bellevue, Washington.
GLY sought to move to an updated space which provided better natural light and the ability to centralize office wide collaboration as well as creating a gathering spot for employee, client, and partner get-togethers. To transform the space and to take advantage of the exterior views, the heavy build-out was removed from windows lines to expose treetop level views throughout their space. To relate to GLY’s core construction expertise, acoustic ceilings and flooring were removed to create an exposed aesthetic that highlights the buildings structure. The majority of the build-out was designed to be centralized leaving the open office and collaboration areas directly adjacent to the window line allowing for ample borrowed light to infiltrate to the central offices and conference rooms.
Warm materials are contrasted with the painted exposed steel structure and accented by GLY’s iconic color and branding. To showcase their 50 years of work as well as current projects, a display corridor with a three-dimensional graphic wall and a changing exhibit depicting GLY’s work is used as an effective link from the main reception area to the public break and training room areas. From the main reception area and throughout the space, one feels a sense of openness and connection to the building and park-like surroundings.
